Mint! 1952 Zeiss Ikon Ikonta, Coated Tessar. Freshly Serviced, CLA'd

$ 425.00 USD

 Cleaned, Lubricated & Adjusted. Ready for immediate use.

This is a freshly serviced Zeiss Ikon Ikonta. It folds out to 6 x 4.5 photos on normal 120 roll film. Bright exposures alive with all the details, lovely colors and rich tonal range that only medium format can provide. When it comes to photography, bigger is better and this camera can produce a large negative that’s more than three times larger than the average 35mm snapshot. The real appeal is that all of this is produced by a camera that folds up into a very small package. So whether you're interested in fine grain, rich tonal values or lovely colors, this vintage camera is a fine companion and its compact size will never give you a reason to leave it at home.

This camera is new old stock and it’s an exceptionally fine example of the Ikonta 521, which Zeiss-Ikon first introduced in 1937 produced until 1954.  It was a very high-quality folding camera capable of producing lovely photos. The body serial number W50240 indicates that this camera was produced in Stuttgart Germany in circa 1952. It’s in superb condition and it’s almost as if someone traveled back to 1952 just to buy it for you. I doubt you’ll ever find a finer example!

 This camera has been carefully cleaned, lubricated and adjusted. Everything works as it should. The real leather bellows are supple and light tight. The view finder is clean and clear. The top-of-the-line Synchro-Compur shutter works well and all speeds (B & 1sec - 1/500th) are appropriate. The slow speeds buzz along smoothly and the fast ones are clean and snappy. It’s also flash synched and it’s been adjusted and tested. An electronic flash will fire correctly at all shutter speeds. (This is of course a useful feature for flash fill.)

The lens is a “T” coated f3.5/75mm Zeiss-Opton Tessar. This is the identical lens used on the top of the line Super Ikonta A (which regularly sell for $900 and more). It’s a superb four element design and well respected for its sharp rendition and attractive background bokeh. The lens is also in exceptionally fine condition. The glass looks like new. It’s clean and clear. There are no scratches, no cleaning marks and it’s capable of producing very lovely photos modern color and B&W films.

All in all a very fine usable classic camera. Load it with your favorite film and keep it handy for that perfect shot you’ve been looking for. You know the one... the one with the perfect Ansel Adams light breaking through the dark storm clouds that leaves you wishing that you had a classic camera with you...
