Zeiss-Ikon
1948 Zeiss-Ikon Super 6x9 Ikonta 531/2, Coated Zeiss Tessar lens, CLA’d, Freshly Serviced!
Cleaned, Lubricated & Adjusted. Ready for immediate use!
This is a post-war 6x9 Super Ikonta. It’s a high quality German camera that was finely finished in black lacquer, chrome and real leather. It has a built in coupled rangefinder that never leaves you guessing about the distance and makes focusing quick and easy. This post-war version differs from previous models in that it has a coated Zeiss-Opton 3.5/105mm Tessar lens. choice.
The camera has been carefully Cleaned, Lubricated and Adjusted. The coupled rangefinder array has been cleaned and it’s clean, accurate and easy to use. The Albada bight-line viewfinder on this camera is all original. (As usual it’s a bit hazy, which is normal for a vintage Super Ikonta however if you prefer, we can disassemble the finder, remove the silver coating and convert it into a clear optical viewfinder at no additional charge.) The bellows are soft, supple and completely light tight.
The quality Compur-Rapid shutter has also been serviced and works smoothly and all speeds (B & 1 sec - 1/400th) are appropriate. The slow speeds buzz smoothly and the fast ones are clean and snappy.
The lens fitted to this camera is Zeiss-Opton 3.5/105mm coated Tessar. (A superb classic design with four elements in three groups.) The serial number dates it to circa 1948. The lens is clean and clear. There are no scratches however the front element has numerous cleaning marks. That said, it’s still capable of producing very lovely photos with modern color and B&W films.
All in all, a wonderful classic camera. Load it with your favorite film and keep it handy for that perfect shot you’ve been looking for. You know the one... the one with the perfect Ansel Adams light breaking through the dark storm clouds that leaves you wishing you had a classic medium format camera with you.
