Introduced to the world in 1983 and in production until 1987, the Olympus OM-4 was a masterpiece of engineering and is now a cult classic. The designer of the first OM series camera, Yoshihisa Maitan was a fan of the early screw mount Leicas and he strove to keep his design as compact as possible despite having many advanced features that were lacking in much larger SLR’s. His design of the OM-1 was an absolute success and featured outstanding ergonomics combined with a very fine mechanical feel. Olympus remained true to these design parameters right up to the OM-4 which is considered the absolute high point of the series. As such it has all the features of the previous models coupled to a very advanced light metering which offered the photographer unparalleled exposure control. So much so that I preferred the OM cameras over my Leica M2 and then later my M3.

The Om-4 listed here is in stunning condition and looks virtually brand new. It’s from my personal collection which I’m downsizing simply because I have too many cameras and too little time to use them all. The viewfinder is very clean and bright. The light-meter works as it should. The camera winds and fires smoothly and all speeds are appropriate. It’s been a while since I last used it but it always produced stunning results. The light seals are original and although they appear to be fine, it’s advisable to replace them if you’re going to use this camera regularly. (A very simple task.)

It comes complete with an original camera case & strap.

All in all, a great camera and a true future classic.  Load it with your favorite film and put it to use. I’m sure you’ll be very happy with it.
